Antonia Brown

I am an experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist registered with BACP and UKCP and have had a private practice in London since 2015. I work with adults who find their way to therapy for many different reasons. Perhaps life feels hard to navigate and events are overwhelming. Alternatively relationships may be difficult with recurrent patterns of behaviour negatively affecting day to day living. It takes courage to address these matters but an increase in self-awareness allows us to make sense of difficult/recurrent feelings often by linking past and present. The psychodynamic approach recognises that a challenge in the present day may have its roots in earlier life experiences.

I have a particular interest in working with people who have experienced trauma and loss (and I have previously worked with the baby loss charity Petals for a number of years based at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington working with individuals who have experienced miscarriages, stillbirths and neonatal loss amongst other things).

With trauma I often work with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) which is a recommended trauma treatment in many national and international guidelines including the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) which inform and guide healthcare services provided by the NHS.
