I am a UKCP registered Integrative Psychotherapist offering adult counselling and psychotherapy and couples therapy. Working as an integrative practitioner means that I draw from several theories of practice. I believe each person is wholly unique and what works for one person may not for another. At the heart of my work is our relationship, a safe, confidential space where we can explore together what is troubling you.
I work with a wide range of issues including:
- relationship problems both individually and with couples
- eating disorders
- separation and loss
- self-harming and suicidal ideation
- trauma and PTSD
I also have an interest in working with young people in their 20’s and 30’s who are experiencing difficulties or feel anxiety about their direction in life.
I offer a safe, supportive and appropriately challenging environment to explore your relational difficulties and the hidden dynamics in your relationships. Helping all parties to understand their unconscious and subconscious behaviours and how these can influence all their relationships can help facilitate understanding of yourself and others, break unhelpful patterns of relating and lead to permanent change.
HOW IT WORKS
Starting therapy can be a daunting process but I’m here to answer any questions you might have. Getting the right fit with your therapist is really important so I offer a free 30 minute phone consultation so we can talk over what is troubling you before you make that decision.
So to get started:
Get in touch by emailing me about what you need at email@example.com
We arrange an initial chat or meeting to discuss what is going on for you, what help you feel you need, and we see if the fit feels right for you
We organise regular weekly 50 minute sessions either in person or online. I work for short term fixed periods or we leave it open ended if more longer term work is needed
I invite you to turn up each time just as you are. Whether you feel anxious, angry, or depressed, we meet where you are in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space. We just go at the pace and direction you are comfortable with.
I am a member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a member of the Metanoia Institute.
I am also a member of European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP), supporting free and independent practice of psychotherapy throughout Europe which upholds rigorous standards of competence and professionalism. I receive regular clinical supervision and I am fully insured to practice. To find out more about me and how I work please visit www.helenloxtontherapy.com
