I’m an experienced and fully-qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist, working with individuals aged 18 years and over offering a safe and supportive place in which to talk about your difficulties and concerns.
We can begin to explore what might be troubling you, or causing you distress and suffering, or preventing you from experiencing life to the full. Together we can take time to focus on what’s important for you, to try and make sense and understand what may be happening to you and think about changes you want to make.
Therapy starts with an initial session or sometimes two to discuss what’s on your mind and how therapy could work for you. In these first sessions we can consider what might be bringing you to therapy and whether we feel we can work together. Research shows that the quality of the relationship between therapist and client has an important part to play in therapy being effective.
People seek counselling or psychotherapy for a range of emotional difficulties and problems and I have worked with people to help them come to terms with:
- feeling anxious or stressed
- feeling sad, depressed or having low mood
- experiencing difficulties with relationships
- feeling stuck in life
- lacking in confidence and self esteem
- a lack of direction or a sense of purpose in life
- difficulties at work
- being troubled by things in their past
- bereavement or loss
- issues of identity
I have a background in the creative arts and charity sector, including many years’ experience working in the areas of housing, homelessness, learning disabilities and with young people. Throughout my four and a half years of training and beforehand, I have spent time having personal psychotherapy and have an understanding of what it can feel like to be in therapy. I’m registered with BACP and BPC.
Starting therapy can be a daunting experience and it can be difficult to know what to expect. If you’re looking for a psychotherapist or counsellor in Bath, please contact me to discuss your concerns in confidence.
